Focus Needed On Early Grades
More focus needed on early grades to ensure matriculants are ready-expert
An education expert say a decision by the Department of Basic Education to push struggling learners through the system without proper support, is creating a problem for them when they reach matric. Professor of Education Policy at the University of Wits, Professor Brahm Fleischer says the department needs to focus on the early grades in order to ensure that those who make it to matric are ready for that stage of their learning process. This follow the release of learners who wrote matric in two parts showing that this form of support is not being effective as only 8% of those who sat for the exam passed. On #SAfmSunrise with Stephen Grootes spoke to Professor of Education Policy Wits University, Professor Brahm Fleischer.
