AMCU wants R17 000 minimum wage
Trade union AMCU says it strongly believes that mining companies can afford to pay its members a minimum wage of R17 000 per month. The union says it is clear from companies’ financial reports that the businesses are making enough profits. It has criticised executives saying they are greedy. AMCU is also planning to take platinum mining companies to the CCMA over the planned retrenchment of 5000 workers. On #SAfmSunrise with Stephen Grootes spoke to AMCU president Joseph Mathunjwa.
