Mthethwa supports Cricket SA decision for players to take a knee

We look at the role of sport in taking a stand against racism and bigotry. I’m sure many of you are aware by now that in recent times, athletes across the globe have been given more freedom to express themselves in protesting against racial and social injustice. Taking the knee for instance is the global gesture against racism adopted by sportspeople across sporting codes. But why do some teams take the knee and some don’t – what is the meaning of the gesture? Our discussion is informed by Cricket SA's Board of Directors decision to instruct the Proteas men's team to all take the knee as a sign of respect for the Black Lives Matter movement. On #SAfmBTH with Aldrin Sampear spoke to Nathi Mthethwa, Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture.
