Commuters frustrated by metrorail services

Over 2 million South Africans travel by trains and they are often subjected to delays. Metrorail says cable theft is of the biggest reasons why trains are delayed.
One person was killed and at least 50 injured in that incident when two trains were torched at the station, last week two trains collided in Elandsfontein in Ekurhuleni on Gauteng's East Rand. Preliminary investigations show the crash might be due to multiple protocol violations.
In the Western Cape Firefighters secured the area on Platforms 15 and 16 at Cape Town Station where two trains were torched by angry protesters on Monday night. Metrorail has warned of further delays while engineers assess the damage in the incident.
