Violence against women on the spotlight as police investigates the death of several women whose bodies were discovered in recent weeks.

The issue of violence against women and children has once again come under the spotlight after the remains of a number of women and and a child were found in open velds accross the country in recent days. 

This past weekend, the charred body of  three-year-old, Courtney Pieters from Elsies River, on the Cape Flats was found in a shallow grave in Epping at the weekend. 

In Gauteng, bodies of four women were discovered in and around Soweto. 

In the North West the burnt body of a 15-year old girl was discovered in Jouberton  after he grandmother sent her to a neighbours house. In another incident still in the North West a 33-year-old man is accused of killing his 36-year-old girlfriend and a 64-year-old man who he allegedly suspected was having an affair with his girlfriend. 

Last month, the burnt body of Karabo Mokoena was discovered in an open veld north of Johannesburg.
