Since the National Health Insurance's white paper was released on 10 December 2015, it has drawn a flurry of comments. Some positive, but others less so.
While some of the critical responses say that the NHI will be expensive and place an unrealistic burden on the middle class tax base, others say it will infringe on the right of the rich to unfettered access to private health facilities.
The latest comment by to Ophthalmologist in private practice, has called for Medical Aid Schemes to be abolished. He says Medical Aid Schemes are a "crime against humanity, and cannot co-exist with the government's proposed NHI scheme".
