Racism in schools

Does it not contribute towards the slow pace of social cohesion?

If children are separated in schools (by school rules or school policies, not pertaining to gender) does this not further perpetuate racism and a mentality of growing up in a divided nation? What is the role of the department of basic education in ensuring that children leave schools as South Africans and not as whites, or blacks or coloureds or Indians? Shouldn’t schools be teaching children to see HUMAN before they see COLOUR?
