A strike taking place in Mthatha has left the city looking like a dump site.

A strike taking place in Mthatha has left the city looking like a dump site. This following South African Municipal Workers' Union (SAMWU) and Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union (IMATU) workers have been on strike for the past two weeks, demanding the permanent employment of EPWP workers whom they alleged have been casuals since 2009. The Mthatha Stakeholders' Forum which includes includes religious groups, business people and ratepayers are concerned about this. They are also calling for the removal of mayor Dumanni Zozo and the reinstatement of acting allowance.
