The Gauteng Human Settlements Department has established a committee to look into poor performing municipalities. It has emerged that nine in 11 municipalities in the province could become non-functional if no interventions are made. Non-payment of services by residents, corruption and bad financial decisions are being blame for the state of affairs. The department says the committee will be monitoring the municipalities closely.
