Hoedspruit municipal shutdown continues
EFF, DA and Civic Warriors of Maruleng councillors continue protest against alleged misconduct by municipal manager
Residents in Hoedspruit, Limpopo have expressed frustration over the lack of services after a protest by opposition parties left municipal offices closed. The EFF, DA and Civic Warriors of Maruleng councillors were protesting against the alleged misconduct of the municipal manager Johannes Lethole.
They are accusing him of not implementing council resolutions and also increasing his salary without the approval of the council. The two-week shutdown of services has left some parts of the tourist town without water and waste piling up in the streets. Stephen Kirker spoke to SABC reporter Witness Tiva who is on the story.
