SA doctor makes Time 100
South African doctor who has been doing research on HIV vaccination Professor Glenda Gray
A South African doctor has been included on Time magazine's list of 100 most influential people in the world. Internationally-acclaimed HIV/AIDS research professor Glenda Gray is being credited for her role in the search for an HIV and AIDS vaccine. If successful, the vaccine could be the first of its kind to be licensed globally.
Speaking to Sakina Kamwendo during #AMLive, Professor Gray described the recognition as surprising
She says she is a researcher and is trying to come up with an HIV vaccine adding that her work that we do is very local, original and really international.
❝As soon as I became a paediatrician, I became a scientist, a researcher and started to look at ways of trying to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV and so that so the inclusion on the list was interesting❞
