Land expropriation amendment motion passed

The resolution will now be referred to the Constitutional Review Committee which must report back to Parliament by the 30th of August 2018

The National Assembly passed the ANC's amendment to the EFF's motion for land expropriation without compensation. The amendment, which was accepted by the house, inserts a clause about improving food security. 

The resolution will now be referred to the Constitutional Review Committee which must report back to Parliament by the 30th of August 2018. The motion passed by 241 votes to 63, with the DA, Freedom Front Plus, Cope and ACDP opposing it. 

The DA says any change to the Constitution will be a recipe for disaster in South Africa. On the Forum@8 spoke to FF-Plus leader, Dr Pieter Groenewald; COPE leader, Mosiuoa Lekota and ANC spokesperson, Pule Mabe.
