Putin secure sixth term amid Ukraine tensions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has secured a record sixth term after cruising to victory following an election that featured no credible opposition. Post the announcement of the results, some global leaders condemned electoral violations and the suppression of opposition voices during the Russian elections, with the United Kingdom in particular saying that Russian elections starkly underlines the depth of repression under President Putin’s regime, which seeks to silence any opposition to his illegal war. But does it really matter for Russia as to what those countries say and what’s Putin’s next mission post the elections?
