14 year old left paralysed after assault by principal dies

14-year-old Siphamandla Choma who was left paralyzed after he was assaulted by his principal at Manyano Primary School, in Middelburg

The 14-year-old boy who was assaulted by the principal at  school in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, has died. Choma became paralysed after the incident took place last year. Choma had been admitted to a Middelburg hospital for observation

The principal of Manyano Primary allegedly beat Choma up, accusing him of stealing R150. The school principal was suspended after the news broke. 

Siphamandla Choma was hospitalised early this year in a hospital in Middleburg after he was assaulted by his school principal accusing him of  stealing R150.  The principal was only suspended by the Department of Education when the story made headlines and there is an ongoing disciplinary hearing.

Funeral arrangements are yet to be concluded. But the Mpumalanga government says it will offer assistance as Sphimandla's family can't afford to pay the costs
