Who owns South Africa’s land?

Figures indicate that 39% of the land is individually owned, 25% is owned companies

Although land has to be given back to the rightful owners, the right processes need to be followed. This is according to Mcebisi Skwatsha the Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform who was talking to Bongi Gwala on SAfm’s Talking Point. He further says that its incorrect to say that the land was stolen, that it was taken, in broad daylight by brutal force.

In relation to ownership, he says with relation to private owndership, that their figures indicate that 39% of the land is individually owned, 25% is owned companies,  while 4% is owned by community based  organisations.
