South Africa's main opposition party the Democratic Alliance has won control of the Johannesburg Metro, the country's economic hub, unseating the ruling party, which ran the municipality since the dawn of democracy.
Herman Mashaba who joined the DA in 2014, has now taken over from the ANC's Parks Tau who will now occupy opposition benches in the council.
The newly elected Mashaba has declared corruption enemy number one in the city, promising to reform the metro's administration.
Speaking to AMLive anchor Sakina Kamwendo Mashaba says the days of "tenderprenuers" are now over in the City of Johannesburg.
