SAA tells SCOPA of R3.5 billion aircraft leasing expense

SCOPA wanted to know why it took so long to act against theft allegations amounting to millions of Rands

SAA has told Standing Committee on Public Accounts in parliament that it is annually paying about three point five billion rand for leasing aircrafts. The airline made huge lossses in the last five years and also changed CEO's five times. SCOPA also wanted to know why it took so long to act against theft allegations amounting to millions of rands. 

SAA Board Chairperson Dudu Myeni also blamed R300 Million of losses the airline could have made had it continued the Abu Dhabi route on a misrepresentation by a former employee. Stephen Kirker spoke to SABC parliamentary correspondent, Lulama Matya.
