Purge in Turkey?

Date: Jul 21, 2016

On the #ForumAt8 we discuss recent developments in Turkey asking; Is there a purge in Turkey, following last week's failed coup?

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is imposing a three month state of emergency following last week's failed military coup. He says the measure would enable the authorities to take swift and effective action against those responsible for the revolt. More than 600 schools have been closed and over 50 thousand state employees sacked in a crackdown by the president.

Speaking to Sakina Kamwendo on AMLive on SAfm, Turkish Ambassador to South Africa His Excellency Ambassador Kaan Esener accused fellow panelists, Executive Director at Turquoise Harmony Institute Ayhan Cetin and freelance journalist Turkmen Terzi of being terrorists.
